Accessibility
I want anyone to be able to read this site, find what they need and get in touch. This page says what I have done and how to tell me if something fails.

The aim
I build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. It is a small hand-built site, so I can test every page myself.
What is in place
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
- Headings, landmarks and form labels are marked up so screen readers can navigate and announce them, including form errors.
- Text and controls meet colour contrast requirements on both light and dark sections.
- Text resizes and the layout adapts from small phones to wide screens without sideways scrolling.
- Motion is decorative. The printed marks on the home page are hidden from assistive technology. When your device is set to reduce motion, the poster appears finished and nothing moves or slides in. Films have a pause button, and scrolling is your browser's own.
- The site works with JavaScript turned off.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
How I check
I test with automated tools (axe and Lighthouse) and by hand with a keyboard and at several screen sizes. Automated tools find only some problems, so I cannot promise that nothing is missed.
Known limits
The portfolio shows screenshots of other sites. Text inside those screenshots is not readable by assistive technology, so the description beside each one carries the meaning. The linked live sites are run by their owners and may not meet the same standard.
Tell me about a problem
If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, email ridge@umbe.studio with the page and what went wrong. I will reply within five business days and fix it, or offer another way to get you what you need, such as a call or an email.
